What can Angels do

Psalm 34:7 For the angel of the Lord is a guard; he surrounds and defends all who fear him.

Since God’s angels are normally unseen, we have little appreciation of how intimately they are involved in our lives.

Hebrews 1:14 Therefore, angels are only servants-spirits sent to care for people who will inherit salvation.

As the Psalmist says, there may well be a protecting angel embracing and delivering us in times of danger.

Psalm 91:11-12 For he will order his angels to protect you wherever you go.…They will hold you up with their hands so you won't even hurt your foot on a stone.

Angels are sometimes called on to rout the enemies of God and His people.

Psalm 35:4-6 Bring shame and disgrace on those trying to kill me; turn them back and humiliate those who want to harm me. Blow them away like chaff in the wind- a wind sent by the angel of the Lord. Make their path dark and slippery, with the angel of the Lord pursuing them.

Angels are intensely interested in the salvation and spiritual growth of believers, 1 Peter 1:12 "They were told that their messages were not for themselves, but for you. And now this Good News has been announced to you by those who preached in the power of the Holy Spirit sent from heaven. It is all so wonderful that even the angels are eagerly watching these things happen.“

There are even occasions when “some have entertained angels unawares” Hebrews 13:2 Don't forget to show hospitality to strangers, for some who have done this have entertained angels without realizing it!

There is “an innumerable company of angels”

Hebrews 12:22 No, you have come to Mount Zion, to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to countless thousands of angels in a joyful gathering.,

They are beings of great power and wisdom

2 Kings 19:35 That night the angel of the Lord went out to the Assyrian camp and killed 185,000 Assyrian soldiers. When the surviving Assyrians[a] woke up the next morning, they found corpses everywhere.

They are not omnipotent, omnipresent, or omniscient, of course, since they–like us–were created by God, simply to obey God.

Psalm 103:20 Praise the Lord, you angels, you mighty ones who carry out his plans, listening for each of his commands.

Finally, we shall be “carried by the angels” into God’s presence.

Then we can better understand and thank them for all the many services rendered to us here on earth.
