A Love Song To The Lord
A love song to the Lord
Imagine Moses without a song as Israel walks through the Red Sea. Think of David unable to Dance as the ark enters Jerusalem. Can you imagine a Choir without a song, or a church that cannot rejoice. It is unthinkable. If Israel could not sing the Lord’s song in a strange land; how could the disciples sing on the night that Jesus was arrested? Math 26:30.
Stretch your imagination. You are sitting at the table with Jesus at the last supper. He has foretold his death and betrayal. He had just completed final speech about his rejection and suffering.
With joy in His heart He starts to sing a song of victory and triumph. You hear Thomas taking the high tenor, while James fills in those deep bass notes:
“This is a New day of gladness
Sorrow will be no more.
Joy and peace abounding.
This is the day of the LORD.
Rejoice, be strong, shout aloud
His promise, His Word is true.
Never, ever will He leave us.
Salvation belongs to Our God.
His mercy, is shown to you.”
As the song rises the meaning deepens. They sing it again. They rejoice, yet there is no dry eye in that upper room. Hastily Judas leaves. The paradox is more than he can understand. Why is he driven to betray this Friend who smiles and says: “What you do, do quickly”?
After the crucifixion, the song is no longer in his heart. He throws the thirty pieces of silver into the dirt. Nervously he mutters: “I have betrayed innocent Blood.” With that he leaves and hangs himself.
The Saviour died to Save. The death of Judas; a senseless portrait of Shame.
But there is another Jude, he is the one who comes before Revelation. Believe you me, he has got a REVELATION
His song fills the air. It is a Love song of honor that he sings to Jesus his king.
He has experienced this wonderful salvation and his life has been transformed by the power of the gospel. When he goes to sleep at night, there is peace in his heart. He has been pardoned. Forgiveness and mercy are embedded in his character. His song rises to the One, who has revealed the love of God to him:
“Unto Him who is able to keep me from falling,
And present me Faultless
Before the presence of His glory,
With exceeding joy.
To the only wise God my Saviour,
Be glory and majesty,
Dominion and power,
Both now and forever,
Amen!”
My question: “Do you have a song at night? Is it Unto HIM? Is it a love song that tells of your commitment to Jesus? Can you sing it in the storm? Does He make your heart feel warm? Oh, you guessed it. HE lives in the praises of His people…. that’s why we sing…UNTO HIM!
Good Night!
