The state of man

The way of salvation

The doom of sinners

And

The happiness of believers

It's doctrines and teachings are holy

It's instructions are binding

It's histories are true

It's decisions are permanent

Read it to be wise

Believe it to be safe

Practice it to be holy

It contain light to direct you

Food to support you

And

Comfort to cheer you

It's the tourist's map

The traveller and pilgrim's staff

The pilot's compass

The soldiers sword

The Christians charter

Here paradise is restored

Heaven opened

And

The gates of Hell revealed

Christ is the grand subject

Our good and welfare the design

And

The glory of God it's end

It should fill the memory

Rule the heart

And

Guide the feet

Read it slowly, frequently and prayerfully

It is a mine of wealth

A paradise of glory

And

A river of pleasure

It is given to you in life

Will be opened at the judgement

Will be remembered forever

It involves the highest responsibility

Will reward the greatest labour

And

Will condemn all who trifle with or change it's sacred contents
