What Is The Book Of Life

“What is the Book of Life?”Revelation 20:1515 And anyone whose name was not found recorded in the Book of Life was thrown into the lake of fire. The Book of Life is the set of names of those who will live with God forever in heaven. It is the roll of those who are saved. This Book of Life is also mentioned inRevelation 3:5

5 All who are victorious will be clothed in white. I will never erase their names from the Book of Life, but I will announce before my Father and his angels that they are mine.

Revelation 20:1212 I saw the dead, both great and small, standing before God's throne. And the books were opened, including the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to what they had done, as recorded in the booksPhilippians 4:3

3 And I ask you, my true partner,(Or loyal Syzygus) to help these two women, for they worked hard with me in telling others the Good News. They worked along with Clement and the rest of my co-workers, whose names are written in the Book of Life. The same book is also called the Lamb's Book of Life because it contains the names of those who have been redeemed by the blood of the Lord JesusRevelation 13:8

8 And all the people who belong to this world worshiped the beast. They are the ones whose names were not written in the Book of Life before the world was made-the Book that belongs to the Lamb who was slaughtered.(Or not written in the Book of Life that belongs to the Lamb who was slaughtered before the world was made)

Revelation 21:2727 Nothing evil (Or ceremonially unclean) will be allowed to enter, nor anyone who practices shameful idolatry and dishonesty-but only those whose names are written in the Lamb's Book of Life. How can you be sure your name is written in the Book of Life? Be sure you're saved. Repent of sin and believe in the Lord Jesus Christ as your Savior Philippians 4:3 andRevelation 3:5 see verses above

Once your name is written in the Book of Life, it is never erased

Romans 8:37-3937 No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us.38 And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God's love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons,[a] neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow-not even the powers of hell can separate us from God's love. 39 No power in the sky above or in the earth below-indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.

No true believer should doubt his eternal security in Christ

John 10:28-30

28 I give them eternal life, and they will never perish. No one can snatch them away from me, 29 for my Father has given them to me, and he is more powerful than anyone else(Other manuscripts read for what my Father has given me is more powerful than anything; still others read for regarding that which my Father has given me, he is greater than all )No one can snatch them from the Father's hand. 30 The Father and I are one."

The Great White Throne Judgment is a judgment for unbelievers.Revelation 20:11-1511 And I saw a great white throne and the one sitting on it. The earth and sky fled from his presence, but they found no place to hide. 12 I saw the dead, both great and small, standing before God's throne. And the books were opened, including the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to what they had done, as recorded in the books. 13 The sea gave up its dead, and death and the grave[a] gave up their dead. And all were judged according to their deeds. 14 Then death and the grave were thrown into the lake of fire. This lake of fire is the second death. 15 And anyone whose name was not found recorded in the Book of Life was thrown into the lake of fire. That passage makes it clear that no one at that judgment has his name in the Book of Life Revelation 20:12-14 aboveSince their names are not in the Book of Life, their fate is sealed, their punishment is sure. Some people point toRevelation 3:5as "proof" that a person can lose his salvation. However, the promise of Revelation 3:5is clearly that the Lord will not erase a name: "5 All who are victorious .. I will never erase their names from the Book of Life, but I will announce before my Father and his angels that they are mine.

He talks about those who are victorious over the temptations, trials, and evils of this world-in other words, those who are redeemed. The saved are written in God's registry and have the promise of eternal security.Another passage over which confusion sometimes arises is:Psalm 69:28

28 Erase their names from the Book of Life; don't let them be counted among the righteous. [David wanted God to erase his enemies, to blot them out of the book of life or the book of the living This "book of the living" should not be confused with the Lamb's Book of Life. David is referring to earthly, physical life, not eternal life in heaven. The same is true of the "book" mentioned inExodus 32:32-3332 But now, if you will only forgive their sin-but if not, erase my name from the record you have written!"33 But the Lord replied to Moses, "No, I will erase the name of everyone who has sinned against me.God keeps good records. He knows His own, and He has set the names of His children permanently in His book.
