The Divine-Human Word

The Divine/Human WordHebrews 1:1-2

Long ago God spoke many times and in many ways to our ancestors through the prophets. And now in these final days, he has spoken to us through his Son. God promised everything to the Son as an inheritance, and through the Son he created the universe.

The title of the Word of God is given both to Jesus Christ as the Living Word

John 1:1-3Christ, the Eternal WordIn the beginning the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God. He existed in the beginning with God. God created everything through him, and nothing was created except through him.

Revelation 19:13

His eyes were like flames of fire, and on his head were many crowns. A name was written on him that no one understood except himself. He wore a robe dipped in blood, and his title was the Word of God.

The Holy Scriptures as the written Word

Ephesians 6:17

Put on salvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

Hebrews 4:12

For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires.

They are so perfectly synchronous that what is said of one can usually be applied also to the other.

Both are human, yet without error; both are divine, yet can be comprehended by man.

1 Timothy 3:16God was manifest in the fleshWithout question, this is the great mystery of our faith . Christ was revealed in a human body and vindicated by the Spirit. He was seen by angels and announced to the nations. He was believed in throughout the world and taken to heaven in glory.

2 Peter 1:20-21

Above all, you must realize that no prophecy in Scripture ever came from the prophet’s own understanding, (Or is a matter of one’s own interpretation) or from human initiative. No, those prophets were moved by the Holy Spirit, and they spoke from God.

1 John 3:5In him is no sin

And you know that Jesus came to take away our sins, and there is no sin in him.

John 10:35

And you know that the Scriptures cannot be altered.

2 Timothy 3:16

All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right.

Furthermore, each is eternal:

Hebrews 13:8

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

Psalm 119:89

Your eternal word, O Lord, stands firm in heaven.

Each brings regeneration and everlasting life to all those who believe.

Titus 3:5-6He saved us, by the washing of regenerationHe saved us, not because of the righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He washed away our sins, giving us a new birth and new life through the Holy Spirit.[a]He generously poured out the Spirit upon us through Jesus Christ our Savior.

1 John 5:11

And this is what God has testified: He has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son

1 Peter 1:23

For you have been born again, but not to a life that will quickly end. Your new life will last forever because it comes from the eternal, living word of God.

John 5:39

“You search the Scriptures because you think they give you eternal life. But the Scriptures point to me!

Finally, judgment comes by both Christ and the Scriptures.

John 5:22

In addition, the Father judges no one. Instead, he has given the Son absolute authority to judge,

The dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books”

Revelation 20:12

I saw the dead, both great and small, standing before God’s throne. And the books were opened, including the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to what they had done, as recorded in the books.

Both Christ and the Bible are vitally important to each Christian and must be studied, understood, known, loved, trusted, and relied upon in every human endeavor.
